Passover adds restrictions beyond year-round kosher — most importantly avoiding chametz (leavened products of the five grains) and, for many, kitniyos. Products must be specifically produced and certified for Passover.

Why it’s a separate certification

A product that’s kosher all year isn’t automatically kosher for Passover. It needs its own ingredient review and dedicated, supervised production — which is why you see a separate “P” certification.
